Boating on the Li River is like traveling on a long, painted Chinese scroll. For centuries, the jade green river winding through the undulating karst hills have attracted Chinese artists and poets. Here huge limestone peaks jut haphazardly out of the plains and the reflections of these jutting mountains in the clear rippling water give this area a charm and dreamlike beauty all of its own. Keren Su loves Li River’s sunset and he has spent over forty years to capture the beauty with his camera. This area has developed towards the modern society, but Keren loves the idyllic countryside life along the river, which is vanishing. He could still see himself leisurely strolling along the river, smiling at the little boy herding the water buffaloes with a bamboo stick; old man with thick glasses repairing a fish net; fisherman casting a net from his bamboo raft accompanied by his cormorants. In this room of Li River, Keren wants to share with you all of his fond memories. He designed the chandeliers using traditional bamboo fish traps. The unique shape immediately adds to the rustic ambience of the room. Also displayed is a clay sculpture from his collection, a little boy riding on a water buffalo. Surrounded by Keren’s photos spanning over four decades, you will enjoy the splendid sceneries of the Li River, karst hills romantically shrouded in the early morning mist and dramatic silhouettes of fishermen on bamboo rafts bathed in the golden sunset.
