It might seem an odd choice to dedicate a room to the dandelion, such a common and ubiquitous plant, considered “weed” by some. Actually the dandelion is a very interesting plant. The entire plant is edible, stem, leaves and flower in all. Folk medicine claims it to be a powerful healer, used to purify the blood, settle digestion and prevent piles and gallstones. When it first blossoms, it is a yellow flower. When flowering is finished, the head dries out and a parachute ball opens into a full sphere. At the touch of a breeze, the seeds on the fluffy ball will fly to the end of the world as far as the wind can carry them. The yellow flower of the dandelion symbolizes healing, but the seeds on the blowball represent a love that will not linger.
