Chinese Lunar Calendar is very different from the western Gregorian calendar. It divides the year into 24 solar segments according to the sun positions on the tropical zodiac which is similar to western astrology. The Autumnal Equinox is a very important date particularly in the rural area where agriculture is the main industry. This year, it will be celebrated in the village of Xiao Zhai, where people from all over the area gather together. They will prepare food to worship the God of Grain, march in the field beating bamboo blocks to drive away the evil and showcasing their rich cultural heritage, such as weaving, embroidery, dancing, singing, etc. It is a day filled with merriment.
